Get involved in the Summer of Play

Fun. friends and freedom. This is what summer holidays should be for kids. But sometimes the summer can be a challenging time for families. With juggling childcare, activities and finances, it can all become a bit of a balancing act. This summer we’re here to help!

Hundreds of businesses, charities and councils from all over the UK have come together this summer to enable all children, in all our communities, to have space and time for play this summer.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues, more pressure is being put on families who are already struggling. Finding the time and resources needed for play can be made extra difficult.  We believe every child should have the opportunity to play during the summer months and go back to, or start, school and nursery equipped and ready to learn.

That’s why we want this summer to be a time when children can enjoy:

  1. Fun - We will support children to have fun and express themselves through play.

  2. Friends - We will support children to have opportunities to play with friends and peers.

  3. Freedom - We will support children to have space, time, and opportunities for free play.

To get involved, check out our resources with loads of tips and ideas for enabling children to play, and share the Summer of Play with your networks.

We want a Summer of Play for all children but we particularly encourage organisations to think about how they can support children and families impacted by the Cost of Living Crisis.
